It’s just a virus

Those of you that have followed me on Twitter will know that our house has been a revolving door of illness since November. One cough, cold and virus after the other. They have varied in intensity and on one occasion resulted in a trip to the Emergency room! I did try to think of some way to make the best out of the situation. Could the mucous be used for wallpaper paste? Could the phlegm be use as pot hole filler? Would the projectile vomit displays make a fortune as modern art? Alas no, to all of the above!

The thing that gets me is that im sure some of it could have been prevented. There is no excuse for basic hand hygiene in my opinion. I am completely shocked by the amount of people that still do not adhere to the most basic of cleanliness. On my recent trip oversees I was horrified as to how many people did not wash their hands in the public washrooms!  Surely if more people washed their hands some of it could be prevented? Everywhere I turn people are coughing and sneezing in to their hands. Granted they are covering their mouths, but they are then using those hands to touch handles, shopping carts, fruits and vegetables and on some occasions, our babies!

Then there are those that are spluttering and cascading their droplets into the atmosphere, oh why do you insist on going to work in an open plan environment? Are you determined to make everyone else feel as bad as you?

Finally there are the ones that decided to take their little ones to day care, or the play gym, when they know that they were mopping a variety of fluids from their orifices last night! If your child has Diarrhea and vomitting, don’t take them to pass it on to mine!

I understand that you cant stay home with every little sniffle, but People, cough in to your sleeve! Use a tissue and sanitizer! If everyone made a small effort, we would all benefit!
