Aging gracefully

Aging is inevitable. It’s not something that particularly worries me. If you see a silver haired gentleman or lady in their 70’s they look distinguished or elegant and experienced. It’s expected. However, premature aging, is not something I am able to embrace. I got my first grey hair at 27 and while there are those that can fully rock the salt and pepper look it’s not a style that I wear well. Since then my hair stylist has become my saviour as I regularly have the coiff, nipped, tucked and painted! it seems that with each passing year, there is more that faces south, jiggles or wrinkles. No amount of lotions, potions or positions will do it! I’m just not ready to throw in the towel yet, so instead of putting my feet up tonight while OH is out and the girls,,,Shhhhhhhhhhh are asleep, I have just completed my set of yoga poses. I am touching up the mani / pedi and liberally slapping the touch of selfless tanner on my pasty white legs! This will be followed by my scary faces while I try to exercise the facial muscles and prevent the double chin from sinking further in to the abyss, an ample daubing of wrinkle cream and a quick once over with the tweezers will complete this evenings grooming before I collapse with my big glass of vino and start again tomorrow! It appears it’s not just me facing the aging crisis, I have girlfriends that have asked me “are you arms getting hairier as you age?” erm not that I’ve noticed, “are they trying to tell me something?”. “Are your nipples the size of saucers?” well now you come to mention it, they do seem to have expanded, but it’s all relative isn’t it? It would appear long gone are the days of simple beauty where my cheeks had a gentle pink hue and the mouth was a perfect rose bud. I’m now faced with saggy jowls, thin lips and the crows whole legs.. Never mind his feet! So on that note people, I had better go and get some much needed beauty sleep!

Hello there from another Yorkshire woman, who after living down South for many years has returned to the promised land with her boys!
This so resonated with me, as my eldest (^) told me at the weekend that the time had come to get my hair colurred in again (he thinks I do it with felt tips), as I was looking like a witch!
