New years eve

How new years eve has changed.. No more romantic night to a jazz lounge, or crazy fancy dress party where I drank way too much!
We have started a new tradition. This year we went to the local skating trail. Dolly day dream received her first pair of ice skates from Santa and it was time to use them. We wrapped up warm and took a short drive. It had been raining so we crossed our fingers that the ice would be good enough. There was nothing to worry about. We pulled up and saw lots of families had the same idea. The trail starts with a large circular basin of ice and then meanders through indigenous trees decked with twinkling fairy lights while music cushions the air. Blades slice the ice through two figure eight formations and everyone seems oblivious to the cold. Older couples holding hands, teenagers twirling and mum’s and dads with tiny palms clinging tight. Smiles from ear to ear. Horses pull a Waggon adorned with colorful bulbs for winter rides. The scene is right out of a fairy tale.
So my new years eve,!, but a wonderful family memory.. Absolutely! All it was missing was some hot chocolate or mulled wine. Maybe next time…
