Rat infestation

Listening to the radio this morning I was horrified to hear the horrific story of a man on life support who was gnawed on by rats! Granted, I do not expect the medical and health care systems to be as amazing in other Countries, but I do expect basic necessities to help preserve life. Is that too much to hope for?
Imagine being the family, loved ones of this poor man who have brought him to a facility to try to save his life. To find out later that while immobile and on a ventilator, rats not only chewed through his ventilator tube, but then devoured his eye lids, lips and other parts of his face! I am deeply saddened with this horrific story! You may wonder why I am sharing such a traumatic and graphic account. I just hope it reminds people just how good we have it! We bitch about waiting times in ER! We bitch about prescription charges, we bitch about trying to get an appointment with our family doctor. At least we have emergency treatment available, with up to date and approved medications and qualified doctors to provide guidance! Next time you’re moaning about the British health care system or that In North America, think about this story! It could always be worse people, let’s try the glass is half full approach!
