Date night

On Saturday we had the rare opportunity to go out as a couple! We drove to the fantastic distillery district in Toronto in glorious sunshine! The artists were displaying some of their products in a market setting nestled among cobbled lanes. with sculptures erupting at every junction. We took a stroll and then chose to eat at the Boiler House. A beautiful brick structure, framed floor to ceiling in old timber that cradled bottles of wine from the corners of the globe.
The homemade multigrain bread fresh from the oven roused our appetite, and did not need any help from the light and fruity red wine we had chosen to go with it.
My entree was delicious, pasta cooked to perfection, bursting cherry tomatoes, aged peppers, shaved Parmesan and peas that were coated in the lightest pesto, all devoured!
Hubby and I had a conversation, no teeny people interrupting, no tantrums, no tossing of food…2 people having fun, enjoying a great atmosphere, the food, the wine, the company. Things were almost perfect and then I spotted it… The man at the table over hubby’s shoulder was suddenly alone as his lunch companions had gone to powder their noses. He proceeded to extract his Swiss army knife gadget, complete with pair of tiny scissors from his pocket and sat at the table in this beautiful fine dining establishment, where he cut his finger nail… Eugh cheque please!
